Dinosaur Field Trip

Since my last post I have been feeling very discouraged and have had a hard time finding the motivation to blog or conduct preschool.

Monday Athena's bio mom decided she wanted to pick up Athena so we did not do preschool.
I did give Athena and Spencer their doctor bags and they did have some 'dramatic play' time which they really enjoyed.

I also have 'the sickness' again...ugh >:(  which has not helped my motivation at all. 

I noticed that my anxiety is more frequent now and I am having a hard time pin pointing what is bothering me.  
I was at the car wash and felt very scared while in the car.  This has never happened before and I remember trying to tell myself that I have gotten the car washed many times but I still felt scared...? 

Strange. 

Continuing on-
Tuesday Athena was still away from home and Spencer did not come over because he spent the day with some family out of state.  

It was just me and Liam.  

I was able to prepare some projects for the upcoming week. 

Spencer was home with me Wednesday but we both have 'the sickness  and slept all day. 

No kidding, both of us, all day. 

Today I finally woke up after a full day of sleep and a night of NyQuil feeling a bit better.  
Because we have been talking about dinosaurs Jerry and I planned a visit to 

The Natural History Museum in Cleveland. 


The kids were much happier then they look in the picture, they just didn't want to stand until I got the perfect one. :)

The exhibits were awesome.  The museum was scarce of others so the kids were able to look at anything they wanted and could show their excitement a little more then usual not having to worry so much about noise.  





 They giggled and oohed and ahhhed.

There was so much to see!


When we entered the area with dinosaur bones Spencer was jumping up and down with excitement.  He kept saying 'Look dinosuars! Dionosaurs!" 









The museum also had an area called the 'discovery zone' which was all hands one.  We spent a good amount of time here. 
It was neat to see the different interests the kids had and where they wanted to spend most of their time. 




All of the kids had a great time exploring and learning at the museum.  Each asked to go again!

I am very happy we were able to take the trip during our 'study' of dinosaurs.

I am planning to get back on schedule Monday.

My sister has been joining us for some lessons with her son via Skype and he is really enjoying it.  I hope to continue to motivate her and involve here and her boys in our lessons.

I am praying for the patience to succeed.

    The dinosaur museum sounds so wonderful. That makes me want to schedule a trip to our science museum!

      I knew I wanted to schedule a trip to the museum as soon as I decided we would be focusing on the letter D. It was a great decision to go! I hope your trip is great!

Elephant Faces

Elephant Faces (masks) We used:  Three paper plates Paint or markers Paint brushes Stapler Scissors Yarn First paint the bottom of the paper plate.  While the kids painted I cut the other paper plate in half for the ears. Using the third plate I cut out the textured part of the plate to make the trunks.   Paint (or color) the rest of the pieces.  Staple them together to make an elephant. Cut out small holes for eyes and small holes behind the ears to attach the yarn. Now that the lesson is over I have the masks hanging in the playroom.  They make a neat decoration.

Painting With Squirt Guns

We did this as a Fathers Day project, but it fits in outside play perfectly.   I liked this for Fathers because it was an interactive activity for the kids to do with Jerry to celebrate him and the time they enjoy spending with him. I filled 1 gun with yellow paint and 2 guns with black paint.  The squirt guns we used were from the dollar store and had a decently big hole to pour the paint into.  Some squirt guns have itty bitty holes that make squirting paint into the gun very difficult. Taped off the canvas...and made the kids pose Then the guns were handed to the kids and dad.  Instructions were to shoot the canvas not each other. Very simple. Start squirting!   The squirting went on and on.  I refilled the guns a couple times so the activity could continue.     Jerry also took time with each Dragon to squirt with them.  With a Star Wars theme we were looking at having black as the primary color and yellow as the secondar

Mini Story Boards

Mini Story Boards We used:  Foam Cookie sheets Magnets Paper I found the cookie sheets at the dollar store and loved the idea of the kids telling their own stories using movable magnets.   I cut out flowers with the foam (you can cut out any design and use construction paper instead of foam) and little people then stuck a magnet to the back.  I cut out bugs and stuck magnets to the back of those too.    Then I drew little scenes that would inspire a story and put them on the cookie sheet.  One demonstration and their imaginations took off on their own :)
