Big Energy-Little Learners...Can I do it all?

Baby is growing fast and learning new things everyday. I combined weeks 6-10 because each baby reaches each stage at different weeks. Therefore all of the tips can be used anytime through these weeks and continuing forward and still be beneficial to your baby. Here are some things you can do to help your learning baby get the most out of each experience. 10 Week Infant Holding things Grasping things is something baby learns to do almost out of the womb but actually reaching for and grabbing things may start happening around this time.  To help baby with this skill always have easy to grab toys near by. To help my daughter I will put a toy in her hand.  She will hold it for awhile then drop, but when it drops she will follow it with here eyes.  This makes her more likely to reach for the toy again.  Practice sitting up Just as I wrote in my last post I put my little lady in her saucer early to help develop those sittin...

We read an adorable book about the moon and this moon crater experiment was a great way to continue the adventure from the book. The book:  This was one of the books The Dragons picked off the shelf.  Our theme for preschool this week was space, this book has a big moon on the front so they picked it out.  It looked like an adventure book as well so it was very fitting for the week.  Opening up this book was an adventure all right! I enjoyed reading it and The Dragons enjoyed listening. They were very intrigued with the man who kept coming into the boy's room.  He was so mysterious.  In the end of the book the little boy goes to the moon to have his own adventure.  The pictures in this book were big and beautiful.   The pictures of the moon showed the craters.  In other moon books it is a glowing ball so this was perfect for out experiment.  Set up Materials:  small pan or bin flour marbles or jaw breakers ima...

The second half of the week was filled with yarn activities.  We had plenty of yarn cut up from the sensory activity so the yarn was ready to go.  The left over yarn that we didn't use for a craft is now a play item, spaghetti mostly, for the play kitchen. Bible To help incorporate and remember the bible verse The Dragons drew a picture of themselves with Jesus.   They did this on white paper. (color of the week.) We are so close to the end of our curriculum I am looking forward to outdoor activities :). Our letter focus is y is for you. Bible Our new story is Jesus calls the childrrn. This weeks story is very short, only two pages so we aren't spending a lot of time reading, but this allows for us to have a lot of time for discussion.  To go with our theme of "you" we talked about how each child was special to Jesus. Then we took turns telling eachother how the other family members were special to us.  This is always a great building/positive activity.  I encouraged the Dragons to think of different things then what was already said.  Little Dragon has been copiying alot so it helped him come up with ideas.
