Nerf War

I will be trying to plan a group activity for the elementary school kids once a week.   I am doing this to give them something to look forward to each week and to help with some of the after school chaos.  It also helps the kids relax and let go of the stressful school week.  This week we had a Nerf War!  We planned the activity on Monday and talked about it all week. This reminds them a fun activity is coming.  I also needed some extra guns and the notice gave the kids an opportunity to ask to bring some extra guns.  Friday before the kids got home I had all of the guns out and loaded.  For this activity I had my two dragons and the two that I babysit after school.  Including me and my husband we had 3 girls and 3 boys.  The dragons all agreed boys vs. girls for teams.  We played a version of steal the bacon.  We had some extra nerf guns that we used for 'bacon'. Before we could start playing we had a ...

Shark Escape!

We did this activity to go along with our SH sound unit When I saw this idea on pintrest I knew it would be a hit!  I also knew something was missing.  I needed more of a challenge for my dragons to enjoy this game to the fullest. So it tweaked it with some help for my husband :) I created a shark worksheet to use for another activity that worked out great for this game! This game works out best with two players.   1 player trying to get across the ocean 1 player moving the sharks Little Dragon went first.  He was allowed two pillows for movement and started at 1 side of the room.  His goal was to make it to the other side of the room without getting eaten by a shark. Doll Dragon strategically placed the four sharks in the ocean.  Little dragon could not place his pillow on top of a shark or step off of the pillow into the ocean.  Both of these would result in him getting eaten by the sharks!  To make it ...

S-S-Snake

Week 3 Letter: S Theme: snakes Number: 3 Bible story: Adam and Eve Bible verse: "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness"  -Matthew 6:33 I forgot to hide the letter and number magnet at the beginning of the week but remembered on Wednesday and was still able to hide it in a couple different places.   Start There was a big letter S out of masking tape on the preschool floor this week.  We used this for gross motor skills at the beginning of our days.  The boys stomped, slithered, slid, skipped, slapped, shook, slammed, and slowly made their way along the tape.  Bible Day 1:  Moving on from creation is the story of the Garden of Eden.  We didn't take a ton of time for this story, just 1 day.    Activity: Make your own garden Day 2: We moved onto our main focus story, Snake in the Garden.   Activity: Sin Apple Science   Day 3: Read Snake in the Garden again this time talking mo...

A-A-Alligaor

Week 2 Letter: A Theme: Alligator Number: 2 Bible story: Creation pt 2 Bible verse: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15 I hid the letter A and number 2 magnets around the house again.  It took Little Dragon longer to find the magnets this time.  Start When boys get together they like to fight and wrestle, probably because they aren't allowed to do this with their sisters.  So for about an hour before we started preschool at 9 am Little Dragon and Thunder Dragon fought bad guys in the living room because they were the 'good spider man who saves the boys and the girls'  I count this as our gross motor skills, they are pretty active and keeping good form. *shrugs shoulders* We also played Alligator Tag and Swinging Monkeys. Bible Day 1 we read creation day 4-God created the sun, moon, and stars.  Activity: Mobile Day 2  was our reading of creation day 5-God created the fish in the seas and birds ...
