T is for Tent

Coming from the downs of last week have kept me down again this week.  Monday was a good day but Tuesday was a very bleh day and today I was really anxious all day. Good news is Jerry did get to see Athena again but I, again, did not get to see  her.  She cried on the phone last night begging to come over and said she is never going to be allowed over here again. We of course told her she is always welcome here, this is her home.  This is just an emotional situation for all involved. I have finished what is in my lesson plans but the lesson plan does start to get easier at this week.  The first few weeks were really full of stuff.  I have things to add but am having a hard time adding.  I want to take the easy way out and when I finish my plan just lay down and shut down. The new focus this week is on the letter t and Abraham.  We have done some fun things with this. Crafts-Bible The story we are reading is the story of Abraham.  The...

Abram and Lot

Abram and Lot lesson from  DLTK Before I read the story to the kids we talked about what a family means. What does it mean to  support  each other? This gave me blank stares. "What is  support?" I knew this would happen when I asked the question and it left the story open to answer the question for us. I printed off some of the papers available on  DLTK  and made a packet. I gave the kids each their packet then read the story of  Abram and Lot.  As we were reading and we heard a word in the packet we would find the word and look at the picture.  Then I would re-read that sentence and continue. This kept the kids very engaged in the story. When the story was over I asked the question.... What does it mean to support the people in your family? This time I was given many excited answers to ways we can support each other  :). After the story I gave ...

5 Little Monkeys

Here is our weekly activity review... Monday we spent the day at the park. It was such a nice day outside so we gathered up some balls and the Frisbee and headed to the park. I wanted to get some learning in so the kids and I came up with a game to play where we could have fun and learn at the same time. The game was Ball Tag. The rules were to throw the ball at someone and if you hit them they had to go to the 'dungeon' and count to 20.  After the kids were counting to 20 so fast the were saying it in one breath we practiced counting by 2's and then by 5's. There was a lot of running around too for exercise. Tuesday we reviewed the story of Abram and Lot  and sang songs.    Athena is retelling the story here.  On the board I wrote the message 'Families support each other'. We used the capital G to represent God.  Athena requested that Lot be represented by Mickey mouse.  The giraffe represented Lots heard. I don't have bible s...
