Big Energy-Little Learners...Can I do it all?

Apples are a standard representation of the first sin in the bible.  The bible doesn't actually say the fruit was an apple but for some reason that is assumed.   During our reading of Adam and Eve we used apples to demonstrate how sin affects our hearts.  We each took a bite out of the apple to represent sin We let the apple sit for a week and watched the sin rot the apple  We compared the apples This really opens up discussion.  I asked Jerry to lead this discussion and he did an awesome job!  He reviewed what each apple represented then asked which apple The Dragons would like to eat. Which one would their friends eat if they were asked to choose between the two?  Then he asked 'why wouldn't you want the second apple?' Our last week of preschool was not too busy and had such a wonderful theme for the coming summer.  After we finished this week we had a small pizza party with all of the kids who joined us throughout the year.  It was great fun completing all of these lessons. Crafts Ascension craft Materials:  Drawn picture of Jesus cotton balls blue paper glue marker First we made clouds using the cotton balls.   To make this craft a little more then just glue we pulled apart the cotton balls to make more shapely clouds.  This craft was to meant to illustrate Jesus ascending to heaven.  In the Bible it says Jesus was covered by clouds and his disciples could not see him.  We used our cotton balls to cover Jesus.  I was a bit worried The Dragons would be upset covering up their art work but they had no problem with this.  I think they had a better understanding of the bible story/ and c...

Bible The third day of our Bible story we used the magnetic board for story telling assistance. Day four we talked about what types of people usually serve and why it was so shocking to the disciples that Jesus was serving them. We used the magnetic board for this too.   Alphabet  The Dragons worked on things in their Weekly Folder.  There was a spider book, finding the letter s in the Itsy Bitsy Spider poem, and some coloring pages for them too. The Dragons made snakes on their letter s using pipe cleaners and googly eyes and added it to the alphabet wall. Community Helpers We used our community helpers for handwriting practice.  I put a picture on the board then The Dragons told me what they did and how they helped our community, then they wrote the name of the helper under the picture. Even Little Dragon did some handwriting.  We grabbed a discovery pack from the library that matched our theme Community Helpers. ...

Letter s is for servant.  We will be going over how Jesus served us, how we can serve Jesus,  and community helpers. Bible Day one we read about Jesus coming into Jerusalem on a donkey and how people reacted.  It was necessary to establish how important Jesus was/is before continuing on to the other stories.   To further this understanding The Dragons reenacted the story.  I had some leafs saved from past dramatic play props that we used as palm branches.  The Dragons took turns playing Jesus.  As the others in the reenactment, we tried to make "Jesus" feel special. Day 2 we read of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. We took some time to discuss Peters reaction. The Dragons washed each others feet as an act of service and a lesson in doing for others what they do for us.. The second half of the week was filled with yarn activities.  We had plenty of yarn cut up from the sensory activity so the yarn was ready to go.  The left over yarn that we didn't use for a craft is now a play item, spaghetti mostly, for the play kitchen. Bible To help incorporate and remember the bible verse The Dragons drew a picture of themselves with Jesus.   They did this on white paper. (color of the week.)
