Christmas Tic-Tac-Toe

This is a fun easy game to play with the kids.   I love this version because it is so big, it doesn't waste paper, it's quick, it's easy to store, and easy to clean up.  The rules are standard tic-tac-toe rules no changes there.   All you need is a flat surface and some holiday themed manipulatives for your 'x's and o's'.   This year we made a board out of 1 piece of paper or a cardboard box.  In the past we have used ribbon or yarn.  I cut out my own holiday shapes from some foam I already had in the house.   The kids love playing this game with daddy!  Our Elf on the Shelf also played this game with some stuffed friends :) Merry Christmas!  Thank you for reading liking, and sharing!

Movement and Science

Here a couple activities we did during this week to get moving, some science, and a daddy folder. Bubble Wrap Stomp A sensory experience for feet and fingers.  I was so excited for this activity! I spread out some bubble wrap and tapped it to the floor.  Then had the kids line up to run across it hearing the bubbles popping under their feet.   This didn't happen :(.  Perhaps it was because the bubble wrap was from the dollar store but there was no popping.   So I told the kids to jump on it, which they did without hesitation.  Still no popping....what? I split the bubble up and gave each child (and parent) a piece to pop with their fingers.  Still no popping!  We tried rolling it up and twisting it and we got a few pops but not much.  All in all the kids had a blast jumping and squeezing the bubble wrap.  And the few pops we did get were very exciting.  If I ever want to mail something fragile I know where ...

W is for Whale

I do have to say I am excited about week 12-letter W.  There are so many things you can do with water!  Crafts, science, and sensory! It is already Wednesday and we have only achieved 1 day of preschool due to the weather.  Because school was canceled Doll Dragon went to her moms to spend time with her sister and I had a Visiting Dragon.  I decided to allow Little Dragon and Visiting Dragon play for the day to give them a snow day. Then we had another snow day.  Regardless, I had full intentions of doing preschool today but Little Dragon did not show up until lunch time.  This put a big hold on our schedule. Because of the above reasons I am posting about 1 day of lessons and a day activity that we did today. Bible Our story this week is Jonah and the Whale-perfect for water! I love this story and the lessons it teaches. We talked about obedience and trust after the story.  Also God's forgiveness. Bible Verse:  Our God is slow to ange...

Paper House and Glow Worms-Mini Projects

Daddy Folder This was the first file folder Doll Dragon did with daddy after her long time away.  She loved the concept of the folder and holds the little paper house close to her heart.   I found the printable for the paper house here.  You cut out the different pieces then glue or tape them together.  We found that tape works best.  I also found that the kids love the finished paper products but it is difficult for them to help.  The cutting is precise and the folding is also.  I printed out a bunch of these but haven't put them in the folder again because of the above reasons.  I wrote a post about the kaleidoscope that Jerry made with Doll Dragon earlier this week.  He made one with Little Dragon later in the week.  Both the kids love their kaleidoscopes (even though they don't work).  It is special because they made it with Daddy.  Kiwi Crate I have posted about Kiwi Crate before in my posts.  ...

Kings Play

Sensory Play I had kitchen sensory bin written in my lesson plan but I could not remember what I had in mind when I wrote it.  I didn't write down any clues or tags to jog my memory.  The kids have a toy kitchen in the playroom but they tend to enjoy playing with real kitchen utensils more.   I put some spices in the bin along with some measuring cups filled with some leftover baking supplies,  walnuts and butterscotch chips.  I also added potatoes.  They don't make a mess and won't spoil or bruise easily.  Of course there were also pans, spoons, plates, and bowls.   Creative Play Together Little Dragon and I built a Lego Castle.  Little Dragon lay down his blanket for the moat.  He also built two Lego boats for the moat. He also built chairs for our Lego people to sit it.  We worked on number recognition with the number Legos.  Once the castle was finished we played pretend with the people.  D...

R Is For Rocks

I feel like my blog posts have been very long of late.  I have been trying to play catch up and it is easier to write a whole week at once.  This time I am going to attempt to split up the week so I will have 2 posts about the letter r.  Monday I should be back to my regular schedule with my blog and posting twice a week again. That is what I am hoping for anyway. Bible David and Goliath was our story this week.  R is for the rock that David throws at Goliath. The kids had a lot of fun with this story.  There were a lot of activities to do and most of them were interactive.  I was also feeling better this week and had the energy to set up more activities. The first day I read the story to the boys from the Bible. After the story each boy drew a Goliath face on a paper plate.  We took out the tape measure and measured 9 ft from the wall and taped the face there.  (I was going to tape the plate on the wall so the boys could have a better vi...

Sock Puppets with Daddy

My Little Dragon loves puppets.  We have a couple different puppets we play with occasionally but it was time he made his own.  I thought this would be a great activity for a Daddy Folder ! I provided everything needed inside the folder in a zip lock bag.  Unmatched sock Yarn (different colors to provide choice) Scissors Tape Super glue Googly eyes (different sizes to provide choice) Pom Poms (different colors and size to provide choice) Sharpie I give the folder to Little Dragon to present to Jerry.  He is always very excited.  I also tell him he is not allowed to look until he and Jerry are sitting down together.   : D I leave them to create together, clicking away on the camera to get a picture or two.   When the puppet was finished Jerry took a turn talking to Little Dragon then Little Dragon tried the sock puppet on.  Little Dragon was not occupied playing with the puppet for long but I think that is because...
