Hopping on (Week 16 wrap up)

Bible The end of the week the story of Jesus feeding 5000 was well known to the kids.  Both Dragons also had their bible verse memorized mid week. To conclude this week of 'hungry' we did a bible verse craft (below) and had 1 last picnic.  There were not as many animals this time but the Dragons enjoyed each others company and the banana bread.  :) Crafts Bread and fish basket Materials:  brown construction paper (2 shades) another piece of construction paper (kids choice) glue stick stickers markers pencil Step 1: I cut out basket shapes out of brown construction paper. Step 2: While the kids decorate their baskets with stickers and markers cut out bread shapes out of the other shade of brown construction paper.  Step 3: Each dragon chose what color they wanted their fish to be.  Step by step the dragons drew their own fish copying off the board.  Step 4: Cut out the fish and glue them and the bread pieces to the d...

H is for Hungry

Bible          "I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me will never go hungry" -John 6:35 This verse is what we are focusing on this week and were we get the letter H. Of course God's timing is perfect and this is the same topic our pastor went over in church on Sunday.  It was a lesson for me as well as my for my children. The story of Jesus feeding 5,000 was the story we learned together. Little Dragon helped me make banana bread for our feeding the animals.  We made 5 loafs. The next morning I set out a couple blankets and had Little Dragon collect as many of his animals as he wanted.  He set them out nicely on the blankets while I prepared the basket. I put in our 5 loafs of bread and 2 big felt fish.  As I read the story Little Dragon acted it out.  He prayed over the bread.  As he did this I dumped a bag of Swedish fish in the basket, increasing the amount of food.  You could also cut up the bread to make mo...

Valentines Art

Valentines Art #1 We used:  Paper Masking tape Paint Paint brushes We used paint brushes, hands, and some  home made toilet paper roll stamps.  I liked the end result so much I framed them and hung them up. #2 We used:  Strips of fabric in desired colors Hanger I bent the hanger into a heart shaped then tied the strips of fabric in a pattern on the hanger.  Boom! A Valentines wreath.  #3 We used:  Red and pink construction paper Valentines themed stamps Ink pad Valentine character printouts (optional) I set up the paper with stamps next to them and let the kids stamp away.  When they finished I cut pieces of the stamped paper out in the shape of a heart and glued them to construction paper.

Six Kids and Tuesday

I had six kids on Monday which is not custom.  It sounds like a lot, it sounded overwhelming when I agreed to do it, but it ended up being a good day.  The kids did a great job keeping each other occupied so they were not looking to me as much for entertainment.   I liked it! I could leave the room and prepare snacks without having three to four people in the kitchen, and I have a very small kitchen.  They all were so excited to play together that I was able to leave the room  unnoticed. My plan was to let the kids entertain each other and I was going to plan a few activities for them but I ended up structuring into more of a preschool environment.   The big reason I did this is because Athena's sister was over visiting on Monday.  When I was tucking her into bed Sunday she asked if we could do Athena's home school and a craft.  I couldn't say no. I did not set up stations.  During free time they played with stuffed animals toge...

Heart starts with H

I am fighting off 'the sickness' again but didn't let it get me down on Tuesday.  We had a good productive day in preschool. We started our day with a prayer. Heart starts with Hh lesson We concentr ated mostly on our hearts and Valentines day. I did not buy boxes of Valentines for the kids.  They will be filling those out for years in elementary school plus the little dragons only have a few people to hand Valentines to.  I decided we would hand make all the Valentines to make them more personal.   I did not wake up as early as I wanted to but did not lay back down.  I poured myself coffee first thing so I would get some good Bible reading in and a good start on preschool.  I have been feeling really good about our preschool progress for 2 weeks now.  While I finished my hair I had Liam, Athena, and Spencer make Valentines cards on the computer at  pbskids.org .  I searched for some Valentines games on a couple o...
