Big Energy-Little Learners...Can I do it all?

We did this activity to go with our  SH sound unit I haven't been focusing on the bible as much as I would like to so this week I made sure to take the time to find a lesson that would fit our unit. I knew I wanted to do something on sharing.  It fits the theme and is always a good lesson to go over.  As I was researching sharing I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.  I was searching for sharing toys or turns, something kid related.  All that came up in my search was sharing each others burdens. I read the bible verse and knew this is what God wanted me to learn and to teach this week. This week we read a couple stories about Jesus healing the blind.  This brought some new words to our preschool classroom and a new concept. What is blind?  I asked The Dragons this question.  Doll Dragon answered it means you can't see. Little Dragon did not understand what this meant.  What do you mean can't see?  Don't they have eyes? I explained it was like they were in the dark all the time.  They can't see light.  This helped him understand a little. What is vision?  Neither Dragon knew what vision was.  It is not a word we use regularly but is simple to define. Bible We read the story of Jesus healing the blind man in the streets.  Then talked about the above terms. The next day while reading the story I gave the kids each a pair of googly eyes and some play dough.  They used the play dough to cover the eyes.  When Jesus told the blind man that he could now see the kids removed the play dough from the eyes. ...

Bible The good Samaritan is our story focus this week which is a great story illustrating how to love your neighbor.  The fust couple days we read the story from the bible the next day I took out the magnets and we told the story on the board.  After the first reading the kids put a bandaid on a stuffed animal. They had to look after that animal all day,  be loving to the animal.  They even brought their animals to their other partents houses to continue looking after them.   All their idea.  Folders The folders had some nice love activities in them.    A couple weeks ago we read the kissing hand.  I included some activities from that book in their folder.   it's an adorable book about love and it is easy to find love activities with the book.  First thing in the folder were cards for The Dragons to make little love notes for people they loved.  I also put a station for...

Here a couple activities we did during this week to get moving, some science, and a daddy folder. Bubble Wrap Stomp A sensory experience for feet and fingers.  I was so excited for this activity! I spread out some bubble wrap and tapped it to the floor.  Then had the kids line up to run across it hearing the bubbles popping under their feet.   This didn't happen :(.  Perhaps it was because the bubble wrap was from the dollar store but there was no popping.   So I told the kids to jump on it, which they did without hesitation.  Still no popping....what? I split the bubble up and gave each child (and parent) a piece to pop with their fingers.  Still no popping!  We tried rolling it up and twisting it and we got a few pops but not much.  All in all the kids had a blast jumping and squeezing the bubble wrap.  And the few pops we did get were very exciting.  If I ever want to mail something fragile I know where ...

Names.  What is a name?  That is an interesting question for a preschooler.  After I asked I had a couple minutes of silence.  They really had to think about it. A name is what we call someone/something.  We identify something/someone by their name. I asked a couple more questions What is your name? What is your nick name? What are your animals names? Stuffed animals in our case because we don't own a pet.  We spent some time naming most of the stuffed animals the kids owned.
