The Beginning

Let's begin! I am so excited to start this year of preschool.  I was very excited last year but this year I did my own lesson planning and am excited to see how it turns out. This is our first week, week 1!  Here already.  We had a very busy summer with Jerry spending time in the hospital and recovery time from West Nile Virus and moving across town spur of the moment.  I am also going to be busy with wedding planning until October so I may not finish my whole daily lesson plan due to planning a wedding. I counted out the weeks so week 9 (of preschool lessons) is the week of Halloween. I will be skipping a week in October for my honey moon. Start We started preschool on Labor Day due to the above information so Doll Dragon was home for about 45 minutes of our preschool lesson before spending time with other family members. So to start of the day, and probably most days, we will be doing some movement activity.   Day 1 I had a playlist ready for si...

Passing P (wrap up week 21)

Bible To help understand The Prodigal Son  The Dragons and I acted out the story.  We did this a couple times switching roles.  Little Dragon enjoyed the role play because he got to wear his spider man robe and be 'dad'. We used stuffed animals and play food as props. (I was busy playing too so there are no pictures) The felt board was another way The Dragons re told the story. Alphabet Inside this weeks folder were small pictures of letter p animals and items.  The Dragons painted these then added them to their letter 'p' for the alphabet wall. Using pink and purple markers (both start with p and purple is our week color) The Dragons practiced writing the letter p in their alphabet journal. The Dragons finished their week folder. Pigs Pigs as the main theme we had a lot of fun with them.  Me being a pig lover we have many stuffed pigs in the house and they came in handy this week. Little Dragons favori...

No More N (Wrap up week 14)

This post is full of name activities which were a lot of fun!  Bible The second half of the week we spent more time discussing the bible story.  I didn't think the kids would get much more out of the short story in our bible.  We played out Jesus calling his disciples together.  The kids and I all took turns calling names and following the leader.  First we called each other by name (or pretend names) then called out any of the disciples names remembered.  This was a fun activity to remember the disciples and talk about how we follow Jesus. While we played follow the leader I asked the kids how they can follow Jesus. I also asked them if they would get up and follow Jesus like the disciples did.  With no questions, if, and's, or buts. We played a 'what disciple name can you remember' game.   I asked what they remembered, they yelled out names and when they got one right they got an m&m.  Simple rules.  I like that. ...

Q Is For Quail

We worked on q for a couple weeks.  Little Dragon was not quite getting the letter so we took an extra week.  I also got sick so keeping to schedule was difficult. Bible We had a few stories to get through this week because the following lesson week we are focusing on David and Goliath. Q comes from the quail God provided during the Israelite's time in the wilderness. Our verse this week "My God will take care of all your needs." -Philippians 4:19 We also read about parting the Red Sea, the ten commandments, and Ruth and Naomi. There wasn't much to do with the white board for these stories. We did talk about the things God has provided for us, our blessings.  We also talked about the commandments.  There wasn't as much discussion on this, Little Dragon is only 3 and is still learning to listen to our rules I didn't want to overdue it adding all commandments.  There were a couple things that he could understand such as 'obey your parents'...
