C-C-Construction

The first day of preschool was a bit of a 'set up and review things we know' day.  I will introduce the letter of the week on day 1 continuing forward, but for the first day I wanted the boys to get familiar with our classroom. Week 1  Letter: C Theme: Construction Bible story: Creation part 1 Bible Verse: "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."                           - Pslam 51:10 Each day I hid a letter C magnet and a number 1 magnet to help with memorization.  This was one of Little Dragons favorite activities each day. After he found them he would then hide them for me to find.  I have realized during this exercise that there are not many places in our home to hide a magnet. Start A great start to most days is with a gross motor skills activity to get the kids moving.  On day 3 this week one of the other moms brought an awesome version ...

Construction Crafts

We did two crafts this week for our construction theme.  Movable Digger  We have never used the pins that allow for craft pieces to move in our preschool before.  When I found this craft I was very excited!  I was unable to download the craft or save it as a printable so I drew my own and copied it for our use.  Materials:  movable digger printable turning pins paint (we used black and yellow only) scissors paint brushes This craft is good for: scissor practice counting practice pencil holding skills I set out the paint for the Dragons and asked that they use both colors for their pictures.   Little Dragon did a wonderful job painting in the lines It was adorable watching the boys paint and talk together calmly The cutting was a bit difficult but that is because it took awhile for the paint to dry so the paper was wet and tearing.  Both boys were very proud of their work and loved their digge...

Week 1-Construction

Reading my lesson plans may seem like a lot but we still have a lot of down time and play a lot during our lessons.  I like to keep my kids busy to keep them out of trouble.  I am a stay at home mom to be a mom and be involved in my kids lives and help them thrive as much as possible.  I don't always finish everything in my lesson plan but I would rather be over prepared then under prepared.  If the kids get bored during a lesson I switch it up or we move on to the next activity.  I try to keep it open for choice in what we do next and ideas on how to do the activity differently.   We often stop in the middle of the activity to add some movement or goofiness so we are having fun together.   It may not work for every family but my kids ask to do preschool and usually look forward to our day of fun activities.  I am planning for a 5 day lesson plan.  These links only document 4 days.  If I find the time I will ...

C is for Colors

The letter C is for colors.  We didn't focus on one color a day instead we did more mixing colors and using all colors to draw or paint.  We will be going over individual colors later in the year.  This week was also Little Dragons birthday so we took some time to celebrate.  We also included more Halloween fun too.   We did these activities about a month ago.  I got behind on my blogging.    Bible Our bible story this week is Joseph and the coat of many colors.   (You can also see our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree on the board that we added letters to for 2 weeks) I read the story to the kids the first day.  The second day I told the story with the magnets.  The third day Little Dragon told a story or retold the bible story with the magnets.  The fourth day we told the story together.  I would read it from the bible and Little dragon would put the correct pieces in place.  Our bible v...
