When talking about music it is a great time to talk about emotions. Emotions and music mix often, especially for adults. Teaching children to identify with the emotions of music can help them identify with some of their emotions.
I hope to go into more detail about this with The Dragons later this week, but for today was just an intro.
I did not have a play list ready (bad prep on my part) so I simply searched in YouTube for happy music, sad music, angry music, and relaxing music.
This was a difficult activity to conduct due to a very tired Little Dragon who was upset with all music types except relaxing. They all set off his emotions. I wish I had a picture now (haha)
But I continued on the lesson with Summer Dragon. (We will definitely have to visit this another day.)
I did not mention what type of music I was going to choose next I wanted The Dragons to listen to the music, feel the music and tell me what emotion the music was expressing.
I asked them to move to the music.

This was the slow sway to the relaxing music.
Somber stance to the sad music
Punching the air to angry music
There are no pictures of the happy music because I was too busy hopping and clapping to snap a photo.
Little Dragon calmed down and made tribal music while he walked around his soup mix
Which made him feel happy *shrugs*
He made is own music for his emotions :)
